CRT Tube replacement in a CNC milling machine control, Anyone with CRT Knowledge?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has replaced the CRT in a CNC Milling Machine? The screen in my dad’s older Bridgeport CNC fried out today. I read on a forum that you can make about any monochrome CRT work if one fails as long as it will fit into the chassis. We have a CRT assembly from an older Mazak machine that works but is a little dim. The tubes look identical, same size, same orange color display, hookups, etc. It looks like I could just swap out the tube and splice the connector onto the working tube? It’s a very simple tube with no adjustments on the yoke like a projection tv gun would have. Is there anything else I should think of before going for it? My dad is just getting back into machining again, I got the data working to it and a half hour later the CRT went blank but the machine still functions. Anyway, Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I worked with Japan CNC lathe before as a technician.There are many factors you have to take care of.

1.Different monitor need different signal although they are CRT type since their control circuit are vary. You should ckeck their signal pin and power requirement for details.

2.Are the two CRTs really same?. I mean the number of display line,etc.

3. Your machine is still functioning while CRT got blank I think this because the display function doesn’t affect the program.

Hope this may help

{micrometer}
Why would one not use the micrometer caliper all the time?

Since the micrometer caliper gives much greater precision than either the ruler or vernier caliper, why would one not use it all the time? Please give at least two reasons… Please.. I really need answers by June 20. Thanks!

b/c of cost, it is too expensive to be used for all applications, sometimes you don’t need to make measurements that accurate

most often, tolerance levels don’t run to the micrometer, tenths or hundreths of a millimeter is usually what the tolerance of dimensions are

it takes longer than a vernier caliper or ruler, it is harder to use

Engineering Measurement Question?

hey,

i’m having trouble trying to research websites where i can find information on various engineering measurement tools for a college handin.

what info i am trying to find is the;

Instrument Name
Feature Type
Range
Accuracy
Sources of Errors
Calibration Method
Setting Checks
Comments on Use

.. of tools including;

Micrometer (Depth, Internal, External), Vernier Caliper (Depth, Internal, External), Sine Bar, Angle Gauge, Vernier Protractor, Slip Gauge, Thread Gauge, DTI.

if anyone could point me in the direction of where to find this information for these tools that would be amazing!

cheers.

Machining question?

What is the the best RPM to machine an aluminum casting that will not cause expansion in the casting?
The casting has powder coating on one side and needs to be machined for a bearing in the back /center. Using a Mori Seiki 1500 with Fanuc controls.

Run it at 3000 rpm. using kerosene as a cutting oil and coolant, not soluble oil! Use minimum cut on each pass to restrict heat build-up! Good luck!

How can I measure my horse/saddle with a tape measure so that I can find a saddle that fits?

I have bought a saddle that doesn’t fit my horse and I want to try and find the best fitting one. Is there a way to measure with the measure tape? Thanks.

Measure with your hands.

How to draw a dimension line to the edge of circle in AutoCAD?

In autoCAD 07 I go to “dimension” and “linear” but when I put my cursor anywhere on the circle to create a dimension line it will only create the line in the middle of the circle, is there a way to get the starting line to snap to the middle and 4 main edges of the circle?

Your snap settings is only set for center, if you wan’t to select a quadren then
Type OSNAP at the command line, select Quadrent and click ok, now you will automatically snap to end of circles

Or you can , if you don’t want to alter you snap settings is when you demenion, before you select your circle, type QUA enter, doing this for you next click and only your next click you will only snap to a Quadrent point on a circle.
